paoline comunicazione culturale 2016-055NEWS 2016 - On 23 May 2016, a meeting was held in the Church of the Artists in Rome on the theme of the Pope’s World Communications Day Message 2016: Communication and Mercy: A Fruitful Encounter. The event was promoted by the Social Communications Office of the Vicariate of Rome in collaboration with the Pauline Communications and Culture Association. Guest speakers for the occasion were Msgr. Dario Edoardo Viganò, Prefect on the Holy See’s Secretariat for Communications; Andrea Tornielli, a Vatican correspondent and senior editor of the newspaper La Stampa, and Fr. Marko Ivan Rupnik, a theologian and artist.

During the program, Fr. Rupnik was awarded the Pauline Communications and Culture Prize 2016 for renewing the tradition of sacred art by making stone and colors, East and West, speak. Convinced that good must manifest itself as beauty in order to be true good, the award is a specific recognition of his commitment to realizing the logo and motto of the Jubilee of Mercy.
