Sr. Zita Cutinha CFMSS honoured with Teacher's Award

NEWS 2015 - An Indian Catholic nun was among 34 teachers from India and abroad who were honoured on Set. 4 for their service to education, in view of Sept. 6 Teacher’s Day in India. 

Franciscan Clarist Missionary of the Most Blessed ?Sacrament? (CFMSS) Sister Zita Cutinha, the Principal of Our Lady Fatima Convent Secondary School (OLF), Gurgaon, Haryana and others from schools affiliated to the Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) under the Indian government, received the Teacher’s Award for 2014 from Ms. Smriti Irani, the Union Minister for Human Resource Development, at a ceremony held in the Indian capital, New Delhi.

According to the citation, Sr. Cutinha was honoured for “her valuable and commendable services rendered to the community for the cause of education as a teacher of outstanding merit.”  A native of Mangalore city in southern India’s Karnataka state,  Sr. Zita has been in the field of education for more than 20 years, and has held important posts in schools and in her CFMSS province.
