The Emerging Indian Scenario and the Response of the religious

religious 4bigEDUCATION - Jamshedpur: The Jamshedpur CRI met on 8th 2014 at Catholic Charities (Diocesan Social Service Society Training Centre) for the AGM.

The theme taken up for deliberations and action was “The Emerging Indian Scenario and the Response of the Religious”. Fr. Dr. Prakash Louis, SJ was the facilitator of the program.

The members present deliberated on the emerging political, social, economic, religious, cultural and educational scenario of India and tried to identify various ways and means to respond to this scenario, keeping in mind the Tribals, the Dalits, minorities, women and children.

Since this region is in Jharkhand the oppression and the assertion of the Tribals  was of special importance. The members present decided upon the following action plan:

· Leadership formation for students, youth, women, laity, Christian officials and leaders, Gram Sabha members, priests and religious etc;

· Prepare Alumni Data Bank and enable them to get involved in the various educational and developmental activities of the institutions and of the Diocese;

· Become part of the Gram Sabhas to uphold the rights and dignity of the Tribals;
· In the next  AGM assess the progress made and plan for future interventions.

Fr. Dr. Tony Raj, SJ, Sr. Sunitha Udumala JMJ and Sr. Mariam SJT were elected as  President, Secretary and Treasurer of the CRI Jamshedpur Diocese. The Executive Members  remain unchanged.
